Abstract
Engaging Anglers in Missouri using GIS and Mobile Apps
Track: Parks, Natural Reserves, Fisheries, and Wildlife Management
Authors: Alex Prentice
Missouri Department of Conservation biologists manage 1,000+ waterbodies, 580+ boat ramps & have placed 4,000+ fish attractor structures in lakes throughout Missouri. GIS solutions were developed to help anglers locate waterbodies, fish attractors and other fishing resources (i.e. ramps, parking lots). An interactive map, Story Map, attractor data downloads (GPX), print maps (PDF), & the “MO Fishing” mobile app solutions provide easy access to fishing resources on various devices & platforms.
