Building FHWA's Model Inventory of Roadway Elements (MIRE) Database

MIRE is an FHWA roadway characteristics inventory to mainly support roadway safety. Many agencies already track portions of this data in disparate databases, which can make editing and sharing data across departments challenging. MIRE consolidates this data into a single database, making it easy to share across agencies. Using ESRI’s File Geodatabase format, the full MIRE data schema was built and populated. Various analyses were used to QC data, including cross-attribute analysis using queries.
