Storymaps was used as a framework to create an atlas of Inuit knowledge of the Kitikmeot region in the Canadian Arctic. The project “Walking in the path of the caribou” was developed to illustrate Inuit land use patterns and environmental knowledge. We will show that new types of mapping and GIS can facilitate the documentation of a community’s local knowledge. The project is the result of a partnership between the Kitikmeot Inuit Association, Dalhousie University, and Esri Canada.
