Municipalities increasingly plan for climate change at urban scales. We discuss development of a GIS-based methodology that simulates interactions of 3D urban form choices (land use, street patterns and building types) with energy and emissions outcomes. We describe application of the method to diverse municipality types using archetype patterns and associated energy modeling approaches. This work will help municipalities assess the implications of climate change planning policy options.
