Abstract
Using WebGIS to Provide Statutory Land Use Planning Advice in the UK
Track: Urban and Regional Planning
Authors: William Holmes
The UK Health & Safety Executive’s online planning service assists users to draw/edit planning polygons and check overlay against hazardous installations with the potential to cause severe harm to the surrounding populace. HSE’s public safety advice is instantly received as a PDF, saving a lengthy paper submission process. The project gives insight into modern and secure webmapping creation, the functional behaviour being defined in an Agile way by users, particularly from a non-GIS background.
