Abstract
Leveraging 50 Year Old Historical Air Photos in Modern Day GIS
Track: Imagery and 3D Mapping
Authors: Yves Leger, Kevin Jones
The City of Saint John, New Brunswick, scanned historical air photos found in local archives over 14 years ago. Until now, they were unable to fully make use of the information contained in the imagery since they had no easy way to correct the images and produce accurate ortho mosaics. Working with PCI Geomatics and the Historical Airphoto Processing (HAP) system, the City was able to correct imagery from 1967 and make them available through their online mapping and GIS platform.
