Abstract
Earthquakes and Its Effects on a Water Distribution Network
Track: Infrastructure
Authors: Gusta Hofstee, Bernard Raterman
A GIS study was carried out by Waterbedrijf Groningen and students Geodesy, to determine if earthquakes induced by gas extraction have caused damage to the local drinking water distribution network. Relationships were analysed linking the failures of our pipeline system to the short- and long term effects of gas extraction (earthquakes and soil subsidence). During our presentation we would like to share the outcome and exchange ideas for future monitoring and analysis.
