Open Data – Making It Easy to Share Free Geospatial Data in Nevada

Creation of map and data services are an important part of modernization within the Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology (NBMG). Many datasets can be viewed and queried through existing web apps, but are not all accessible through one platform. The ArcGIS Open Data platform provides us with a solution. Our goals were to compile all NBMG data in a single platform and expand our data footprint. We hope to establish the NBMG open data site as the central clearinghouse for GIS data in Nevada.
