The Crime Analytics Department uses automated queries to push our electronic police report data to a custom Story Journal and Web Application. The former is used at our weekly management meeting to quickly and effectively communicate crime patterns and operational efficiency to our Chief. The latter allows our detectives to search the map for names of offenders and victims, crime types, keywords in the narrative (‘e.g., “black skull mask”), as well as analyze temporal and geographic patterns.
