The Missing Link: A Novel Approach to Resolving Ungeocoded Records

A new technique has enabled geographers at the U.S. Census Bureau to sort address lists from the U.S. Postal Service into the order in which the addresses receive mail. This presentation will focus on how the various Select by Attributes and Join functionalities within ArcMap were used to help us uncover discrepancies in our current methods of geocoding addresses, and also how they have given us the ability to assign nearly a third of all ungeocoded addresses to their appropriate census blocks.
