Putting Drones to Work within Mobile County Public Works

A year into using drones for Public Works and Environmental Services, we’re regularly creating orthophotos to document development of new subdivisions, wetlands mitigation areas, and new roundabouts. Now we’re moving into 3D applications, such as calculating landfill volumes. We use Drone2Map, LP360 and prosumer drones to leverage this 13 to 300 acre “sweet spot,” between a labor-intensive field survey and mobilizing a traditional aerial photogrammetric flight.
