Aurora Research: Earth/Space Data Fusion Powered by GIS and Python

The Aurora Borealis and Australis Borealis are visually spectacular, but are also indicators of Sun-magnetosphere-ionosphere energy transfer during geomagnetic storms and space weather threats. The Saint Patrick’s Day Storm of 2015 is a stellar example of this, and is the focus of our study that utilizes ArcGIS to bring together diverse and cross-disciplinary data for intercomparison and analysis. Python serves to automate the data preprocessing, and document the data-processing pipeline.
