Geological conditions in and around Kumba mining operations makes the area susceptible to sinkhole formation and poses a risk to employees and communities. This paper presents work done between GIS and Geotechnical Teams at Kumba to develop a GIS based decision support system that uses:<br /> A GIS derived dolomite risk map to highlight risk areas<br /> InSAR subsidence monitoring <br /> Kumba is now better equipped to respond to dolomite related incidents and ensure safety of employees and communities. <br />
