Abstract
Reducing Costs Associated with Property Tax Appeals Using Spatial Modeling
Track: Government
Authors: Paul Bidanset
Inaccurate real estate valuations used for property tax assessments can be costly for tax payers and governments alike, potentially resulting in legal fees, increased staffing, stagnated economic growth, and more.<br />
This presentation will demonstrate how GIS-based valuation models (cokriging, geographically weighted regression, etc.) mitigate the financial costs and political ramifications for local governments that traditional appraisal methodologies are likely to impose.
