The Trinity River Authority Permits Dept. conducts inspections of septic systems around Lake Livingston to insure the lake's water quality. There was a need to improve the efficiency of the inspections, the accuracy of the data, as well as create an electronic backup of the paper data. TRA now utilizes a combination of GIS and GPS software and a document management system for inspections and data collection. The department has gone from an office buried in paper to an almost paperless atmosphere
