You Can’t Get There From Here: Improving EMS Routing With Access Roads

The most important function of our centerlines data is providing a network dataset for Emergency Response. After receiving inquiries from our EMS responders, we found situations in which adding access roads would improve accuracy when responding to calls. We then built a feature class and incorporated it into our network dataset used by our CAD system. This process involved creating models to identify areas needing access roads, editing, and writing scripts to test and update the dataset.
