GIS Tech Helps Public Track Napa/Sonoma County Wildfires

LAFD GIS Supervisor Rene Gonzalez was asked to support CalFire in one of the nation’s biggest natural disasters in history. With limited time and rapidly changing fire conditions, Rene was able to create an evacuation web app for residents desperately waiting to see which areas of their neighborhood were impacted. Using ArcGIS Online, he was able to make live updates for public releases for residents to view the re-entry zones and current evacuation areas within the fire perimeter.
