The use of GIS during the 2016 yellow fever outbreak in Kinshasa (DRC) had a direct, positive impact on the work of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). During a vaccination covering more than 710 000 people while performing sanitation operations, GIS has been used to support operations with custom maps produced in the field. These helped visualize the daily progress of the campaign, thus allowing quick identification of gaps, security concerns location and allocation of resources accordingly.
