Abstract
Remote Sensing Projects at the U.S. Census Bureau
Track: Official Statistics and Census
Authors: Hannah Rosenblum
The U.S. Census Bureau is using remote sensing data for U.S. and international applications to improve census and survey operational efficiency and to analyze population distribution. Working with these voluminous datasets requires advances in the agency’s image processing capabilities. Operating geospatial tools in a cloud computing environment may provide the scalability, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness needed to successfully accomplish this mission.
