Helping to Make Advance Mitigation Decisions with Custom GIS Tools

For the purposes of supporting the CA Department of Transportation’s (Caltrans) Advance Mitigation Program, a series of tools have been developed in ArcMap to summarize potential impact to resources by planned future transportation projects. Estimated project impact footprints have been modeled from the Caltrans project database. Four categories of resources have been considered in this process; terrestrial special status species, special status fish, wetlands, and waters.
