Abstract
Citizen Scientists Using Survey123 to Collect Lake Quality Data
Track: Infrastructure
Authors: Douglas Curl, Melissa Miracle
The Kentucky Division of Water (KDOW) monitors water resources of Kentucky; however, only 50% of the 440,000 acres of lakes have been adequately assessed. The Volunteer Lake Monitoring Program was developed to involve citizen scientists in expanding lake monitoring in Kentucky. Citizen scientists use the Esri Survey 123 application created by the Kentucky Geological Survey to facilitate data collection. An ArcGIS Online map application is used to disseminate results to the public and samplers.
