The Municipality of Anchorage has embarked on a new GIS program, fixing the foundational GIS infrastructure through implementing a parallel infrastructure using the Microsoft Azure cloud while migrating processes from a legacy system. In the past year, the new GIS Program has been able to automate over 8,000 map pdf exports, ensure access to authoritative data for public and staff, while maintaining connectivity for all existing applications.
