Abstract
Drone Terrain Data - Making Lemonade from Lemons
Track: Infrastructure
Authors: Keir Keightley, Peter Wade
Data collected using UAV platforms varies in quality depending on the company operating the UAV and on client specifications. Inaccurate coordinates or presence of tilt in the data invalidates most geospatial uses. Tossing out expensive data is not a popular option but there is opportunity to correct for these issues. Full 3D editing of data is available and includes tools such as iterated closest point (ICP) alignment, noise filtering and meshing/rasterizing. An example is presented.
