Track: Health and Human Services
Authors: Stephanie Deitrick
Data from Tempe Fire Medical Rescue are helping Tempe, Arizona to better understand the impact of opioid abuse in the community. Tempe is leveraging GIS to relate location to when opioid overdose emergency medical calls are occurring and the demographic information for each call. This data is helping to determine where to apply prevention resources and to highlights trends that may not be unique to Tempe. The data is also being pooled with that of other cities regionally to find solutions.
