WATER-RELATED SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES OF THE SPATIAL DATA SECTION,
NEVADA DISTRICT, U.S. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY, 1994
ABSTRACT. The U.S. Geological Survey cooperates with Federal, State,
and local water-management agencies to collect hydrologic data and
make scientific studies that improve the knowledge and understanding
of Nevada's water resources. The Spatial Data Section of the U.S.
Geological Survey is involved in the creation, analysis, and display
of digital data to support such activities and studies. It routinely
incorporates state-of-the-art technologies such as geographic information
systems (GIS), remote sensing, near-real-time data transmission,
comprehensive relational data bases, and multidimensional digital models.
Some of the activities and studies the Spatial Data Section of the Nevada
District was involved with in 1994 are:
Carlin Gold-Belt Hydrology
Artificial Recharge Evaluation, Douglas County
Newlands Irrigation Project
Granular Velocity Subsidence Model
Geographic Information System for Lake Tahoe Basin
