GIS/AM/FM Integration: Case Study -- MSD-Lojic (Louisville, Kentucky)

Hansen Information Technologies of Sacramento, California has developed new methodologies and accessed new technologies to facilitate the integration of geographic information systems (ArcInfo and ArcView2) with Hansen's Windows-based Infrastructure Management System.

Working with Hansen's GIS group, MSD-LOJIC (Metropolitan Sewer District - Louisville Jefferson County Information Consortium) has developed a GIS data model which allows ArcInfo to access Hansen's industry specific IMS tables, ensure database integrity between the ArcInfo database and the IMS database, and allow ArcInfo users to update IMS data records and generate workorders. The GIS data modelassures that the ArcInfo database conforms to the Hansen IMS data model, rather than the other way around.

Hansen's IMS software fully complies with ODBC (Open Database Compliant) standards which provides the nucleus necessary to achieve a level of integration to the GIS previously unattainable. The Hansen IMS Windows software application runs native as part of the GIS application. Full functionality of both applications are retained. User's are able to toggle directly, with a simple click of a button, between the GIS graphics window and Hansen's IMS windows.

Hansen Information Technologies remains committed to remaining the leading Windows-based Infrastructure Management System software vendor. Real integration to the GIS demonstrates Hansen's committment to providing our customers with the latest technologies available for GIS/Am/Fm solutions.
