Successful implementation of enterprise GIS projects present challenges that reach beyond selection of quality products and professional application development services. GIS solutions for distributed computing environments require specialized attention to computer platform sizing, client/server architecture design, and network communications planning. This workshop presents an overview of Esri product architecture from a system environment perspective and provides an empirical methodology for establishing successful distributed GIS computer environments.
