Feasibility Study of AM/FM/GIS Implementation
Defining Issue: As with other information management systems, the AM/FM/GIS implementation is an investment to the organization. One of the biggest challenges is how to construct a cost-effective AM/FM/GIS to help the organization enhance services, reduce cost, and become more competitive. Methodology: In order to build a system that meets the organizational needs and system users' expectations, the author conducted workshops to familiarize staff with functions of an AM/FM/GIS, observed operation on-site, and interviewed potential end users at all levels from management to field maintenance and clerical. The author also identified relevant staff positions and weighed salaries, listed specific benefits for each application, and aggregated the benefits according to the implementation schedule.
