Interfacing Oceanographic Database by ArcView
Defining Issue: The management of the oceanographic data collected from various platforms is a complex problem. Without a friendly user interface, it is very difficult for scientists and engineers to use these data. Methodology: MBARI has collected a large amount of oceanographic data from its various platforms since 1988. ArcView and Avenue are used to interface the database and establish the application models. All the previously collected data can be displayed for further analysis or planning for future ship cruises or ROV diving. The system can also be used in real-time ship navigation and to collect the real-time data into a database by RPC connection. Software: The application was developed by ArcView and Avenue.
