Development of a MapObjects-Based Spatial Data Viewer and Analysis Tool for Remote Sensing Applications  Paper Text

Defining Issue: Remote sensing applications, including precision agriculture, forestry, environmental monitoring, and other related areas require special-purpose tools for the display and analysis of relevant data. GIS Solution: TASC has developed a spatial data viewer and analysis tool using MapObjects that enables a user to display multispectral imagery overlaid by vector spatial data. Methodology: The viewer supports the display of registered, multispectral TIFF imagery overlaid with vector spatial data. The tool allows the user to apply the MapObjects rendering capabilities, annotate the data, and record textual information associated with precise locations. The viewer additionally supports the concept of a project file for saving and restoring a user session. Software: The application was written using MapObjects, Visual Basic, and C++. The purpose of the paper is to highlight the viewer functionality in its support of applications as well as to provide insight into the integration of MapObjects into the application.
