City of Emeryville Brownfields GIS Development

The EPA's Brownfields Economic Redevelopment Initiative is designed to empower communities to effectively reintroduce Brownfield sites into productive uses. Brownfields are sites that have actual or perceived contamination and active potential for redevelopment and reuse. As part of a national pilot program, the City of Emeryville, California, is producing development plans for Brownfields mitigation that include public access to Brownfield-related information through an ArcView GIS-based "One-Stop-Shop." This paper will present the development of the One-Stop-Shop, its benefits to the City and interested stakeholders, its contributions to the City of Brownfield's redevelopment plans, and the direction of future GIS efforts being considered by Emeryville in connection with this project.
