The Evolution and Methodology of a Packet Radio GIS Application
Using GIS in planning a wide area Packet Radio Network has involved an evolutionary process where applications and methodologies change to overcome barriers and meet new needs. Our paper will outline this evolution. We will show the needs and goals of the project and what models and applications we used to meet those needs. Originally, an automated system was implemented in ArcInfo to model the radio network, but over time we found that a more interactive and flexible ArcInfo application better met the changing needs of the project. The result of our work is a successful system that allows the active participation of the client.
