Application Development with MapObjects and Visual Basic
Defining Issue: The purpose of this paper is to outline an application framework designed to support the integration of applications, specifically, the Visual Basic development environment and incorporation of the MapObjects ActiveX control. Methodology: This paper discusses methods for building a MapObjects application within the Visual Basic environment. To maximize modularity and code reuse, an application development framework should be used in code development. With this framework in mind, the developer can maximize code efficiency, modularity, readability, and reusability. This paper will focus on issues such as the Visual Basic development environment, object-oriented coding standards, code reuse, managing objects efficiently, and Graphical User Interface development.
