Getting the Most Out of Color Digital Orthoimagery
A critical, though often overlooked, factor in the effective use of digital orthoimagery in GIS is color management: how colors are stored in an image and how they are rendered on displays and hard-copy output. Color issues become especially apparent when dealing with very bright or very dark features, when studying multitemporal images, and when compressing and/or mosaicing images. Appropriate use of image processing techniques can make digital orthoimagery come to life in GIS applications.
