Integrating Cybernet Hydraulic Modeling Data with ArcView Version 3.0 for City wide GIS Implementation  Paper Text

The City of Hurst, Texas is developing a public works GIS to support infrastructure management and planning activities. As part of that process, ArcView Version 3.0 and Cybernet 2.0 (a hydraulic modeling software tool) were integrated to better evaluate the City's water distribution system. Cybernet 2.0 uses AutoCAD to facilitate data processing and water pipe and connection modeling. This paper will outline the process needed to reestablish the link between AutoCAD and Cybernet that is needed as the link to join Cybernet data to pipes and nodes in ArcView. The process includes integration of AUTOLISP routines from within AutoCAD, importing them as tables into ArcView, and joining the .DBF tables to the .DGN pipe and node themes using the AUTOLISP extracted .DBF table field. These steps then make it possible to access Cybernet modeling data for each pipe and node by simply selecting one within ArcView to display the chosen feature's attributes. The GIS is now being used by the City to quickly and easily access modeling data visually to aid in infrastructure management decision support.
