The Detection and Reporting of Graphic and Nongraphic Elements Changes

With the growing use and acceptance of mapped data sets, there has been a dramatic increase in the sharing of data sets across the board. In particular, corporations such as private utilities may acquire much of their operational graphic data from numerous public agencies. After the acquisition of the various data sets they must be converted into a common format for internal use. Once this has been completed, the utility is then dependent upon periodic data file updates from the source agencies for the maintenance of their graphic database. This presentation will deal with the general process of management of data sets that are created and maintained by other agencies. Specifically, an explanation of the procedures used by KCP&L to detect changes in graphic and tabular elements will be presented along with the tools required to accomplish this task.
