Integrating Utility GIS and Infrastructure Management
Over the past two years, Indian River County has embarked on an aggressive plan to build an integrated Graphical Information System (GIS) and infrastructure management system (IMS). The system is designed to meet a diverse range of objectives including linking customer service requests and work orders, producing detailed route maps, directing public access to digital map files, and maintaining work histories and inventory of our water and sewer utility facilities. In order to provide these services, Indian River County, Department of Utility Services has built a solid link between its GIS and IMS. The County is currently converting its existing base of digital files into a format compatible with the new system. We are also in the process of linking our SCADA system into our utility network.
