GIS-T Rideshare Matching Using ArcView

Matching commuters together into carpools and vanpools based on similar work schedules, proximity, and a variety of other criteria is the type of application that GIS is designed for. Surprisingly, this GIS approach to ride matching has seldom been successfully implemented. GIS/T-Rideshare, developed in ArcView using Avenue and Visual C++, has proved to be a very effective solution for ride matching agencies across the country (originally developed for Washington, D.C., Ridefinders program, it is now installed in over 30 sites). GIS/T-Rideshare uses the power of ArcView in a friendly Windows style interface to ensure speedy, accurate ride matching in a clear, map-based visual format. Recent enhancements to GIS/T-Rideshare in ArcView Version 3.0 means that we now have ride matching software that is quicker, smarter, and friendlier than ever before. This presentation aims to highlight these new features.
