Strategies To Leverage Internet, Groupware, and GIS Technologies
Themes: Leveraging the Internet, group collaboration, public access, and just-in-time information dissemination based on roles, rules, and events.Interest: This presentation will appeal to those who are searching for information management strategies that provide streamlined coordination, communication, and collaboration. Group oriented fast-track decision making is recognized as a strategic economic and operational cost savings benefit, but solutions continue to ellude many implementation teams. Systems that solve the three C's described above will deliver significant organizational, technical, and financial benefits across the government enterprise. An innovative information management strategy developed by GEOPOWER allows government organizations to successfully automate business processes that have in the past resisted automation. This technical strategy leverages recently available modern technologies such as Internet protocols, groupware collaboration, interactive voice response, wireless
delivery, and software components (plug-ins). The strategy integrates existing GIS and SQL database repositories through the inclusion of low-cost data access/filtering technologies built with new ActiveX and Java component technologies. The deployment strategy is based on GEOPOWER's proven SEE-IT implementation methodology, which focuses on an incremental process-driven approach.
