Mapping FARSITE Input Layers Using an Integrated Vegetation Classification Approach

Fuel and vegetation spatial data layers needed for the execution of the spatially explicit fire spread model FARSITE were created for all lands in and around the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness Complex (SBWC) using an integrated vegetation classification approach. FARSITE is a spatially explicit fire spread model used to predict the size, intensity, direction, and rate of wildland fires. Predictions are based on topography, weather, and several ecological attributes including fire behavior
