A Practical Approach to Implementing Land Records Software: Experiences Integrating Mapping, Land Registry, and Assessment Functions
"I've digitized my maps, but I'm not getting the kind of benefits I expected from my GIS!""How can I manage my land records without all of my maps digitized?"GIS is the key technology for data integration and visualization, but it needs to be teamed with other technologies to deliver enterprise solutions for land records management. The implementation of land records software requires a focus on specific applications while building a foundation or infrastructure for maintenance and distribution of this information. This must be done in the midst of changing business processes, technologies, organization, and legislation. This presentation will discuss trends in land records management and requisite design principles for the development of land records solutions. It will highlight a unique approach to addressing the application requirements of mapping, land ownership, and valuation in an integrated fashion. The approach uses tailorable software products reducing the time, cost, and risk of solution
development. It also addresses questions of:How do I keep my technology current? How do I build an infrastructure for significant organizational reform or integration of business functions? How do I gain maximum benefit from my technology investment?
