TVA's Automated Land Information SystemE. Bruce RowlandTVA developed the Automated Land Information System (ALIS) to increase efficiency and effectiveness of reservoir land management through the application of computer technology to key business processes. Reservoir property includes 265,000 acres of fee land and 324,000 acres of easements along 11,000 miles of shoreline on forty-seven reservoirs in seven states. ALIS is a desktop information system accessed over local and wide area network communications by over 200 TVA employees in fifteen locations throughout the Tennessee Valley. It supports administration of land records, natural and cultural resource management, land use planning, and compliance with laws and executive orders.
