How an Employee's Commute Is Affected When the Office Moves
Frank PhillipsEsri Products Used: ArcView GIS, ArcView Network Analyst, StreetMap, U.S. Street Database Our company's management had decided to relocate the corporate office and needed help in deciding where to move and in determining how the employees' daily commute would be affected by the move. Our GIS analysis found that 84 percent of the employees would not have a significantly longer commute to the new office. These data were later used in an informational poster that thematically shaded employee homes on a map by the estimated change in commute from the old office to the new one.
