WINDIG - An Integrated Solution for ArcInfo Digitizing
Hui JinTo perform digitizing, normally a digitizer has to be connected directly to a UNIX box or an X terminal. For tasks that have to be performed from a remote site or where no X terminal is available, WINDIG provides a software solution. With WINDIG, an X terminal is no longer necessary for digitizing tasks. WINDIG utilizes a Windows 95/NT PC with TCP/IP properly configured to relay the digitizer signal that comes from a PC's COM port to ArcInfo, residing on a UNIX host over network. WINDIG not only eliminates the need to purchase expensive X terminals, but makes the digitizing possible in remote sites where only dial-up serial connection is available.
