Developing a Web-Based Interface to a Corporate Spatial Data Warehouse for Scottish Environmental Data
Neil BrookerThe Macaulay Land Use Research Institute in Aberdeen, Scotland, has collected or is responsible for many large environmental data sets that increasingly form the core for the research objectives of the institute's scientists. Work is proceeding to formally standardize and centralize these data into a corporate data warehouse. This paper describes the development of a simple, intuitive Intranet interface to access this data warehouse. The interface utilizes Java, ArcView IMS, and SDE technology to provide quick data access, basic GIS display and query functionality, and data download capabilities.
