GEOCOMM - Plug-and-Play Complete Solution for Communicating, Monitoring, and Tracing Fixed and Mobile Assets
Sandro SeveroniGEOCOMM is a plug-and-play complete solution for communicating, monitoring, and tracing fixed and mobile assets equipped with subscriber communicators for ORBCOMM(sm) satellite constellation. GEOCOMM permits users to customize interactively their specific application protocols using all supported ORBCOMM(sm) messages, status and position reports, and commands. It is designed to be highly configurable by the final user, in order to permit the highest interaction between the operator in the base station and the remote assets, and includes a basic world database map to geographically represent the assets. GEOCOMM includes the following features: - Configurability - Message transmitting, receiving, and archiving through standard mail protocols - Cartographic displaying - Graphic data trend display GEOCOMM runs on Microsoft Windows 95 and Windows NT. It has been designed using standard software technologies such as Esri's MapObjects LT for cartographic data management, Microsoft Visual Basic and C++ for user interaction and E-mail handling, and Microsoft Access for database management.
