Pea Patch Island Heronry Region Analysis - ArcView GIS Assessment of Regional Ecosystem Health

The Pea Patch Island ArcView GIS project has been developed to assist the Delaware Coastal Management Program in the development of a Special Area Management Plan for the island and affected region. It enables the use of scientific research data on wading birds as an environmental indicator of the health of the regional ecosystem. Integration and analysis of this information in conjunction with other spatial data (land use, habitat, toxins, etc.) are helping to assess the cumulative and secondary impacts of human activities in the region. The information is leading to the development of specific management strategies for improved ecosystem management.
