A Closely Coupled Hydrodynamic/Pollutant Transport GIS Model Paper Text

Steven J. Boyle
Ioannis K. Tsanis

The development of a closely coupled two-dimensional, hydrodynamic/pollutant transport GIS model is presented. Model functionality for data capture, data editing, preprocessing, embedded artificial intelligence, and result presentation is described. The use of this GIS-based interface module facilitates the improved communication of the basic patterns and relationships associated with hydrodynamic/pollutant transport simulation and the application of this information to water resources, planning, and management. The functionality of this model will be illustrated through a case study on Hamilton Harbour, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
