Geostatistics for Farmers: Managing Spatial Variability in Precision FarmingMats SoderstromThe booming use of precision farming (PF) requires low-cost and easy-to-use mapping and analyses software that still needs to be powerful and able to handle a considerable amount of data. PF is supposed to optimize fertilizing and pest control. This is possible only if the software is capable of providing correct output. In this project, a MapObjects application was developed with in-built capability to manage the existing soil spatial variability. This means that farmers successfully can use more advanced interpolation techniques such as kriging or cokriging, and adapt sampling schemes to current soil conditions.
