Development of the Greater Yellowstone Area Data Clearinghouse Paper Text

Patty R. Scarrah

The eighteen million acres encompassing the Greater Yellowstone Area (GYA) is administered by several different federal, state, and local agencies as well as private landowners. The Greater Yellowstone Area Data Clearinghouse (GYADC) has a mechanism by which managers and stakeholders can communicate data needs and capabilities that will lead to the development of consistent coverages and relevant data layers for use in decision support systems. Through the WWW the GYADC allows stakeholders to query databases to discover existing data resources in addition to serving as a bulletin board for GYA issues.
